“Jehoiakim Activity” Life Talk

Assign: Jeremiah 36 (1-3; 4-6) Explain.

Summarize 7-19

READ: 20-26

  • You are going to play the role of Jehoiakim and take out the undesirable parts of the Bible. “Cut them out.” May be things which people have a hard time accepting or which an individual has a hard time obeying. “undesirable”.
  • BREAK
  • Go around and explain what scripture and the reason for it being removed.
  • Leader brings the new version of Christianity to life; wouldn’t it be great?

Jeremiah 36:27-28; 31-32

Q: Did ignoring God’s word make it go away?

Q: What is the consequence?

Q: Do we have the right to play games with God’s word?

Q: How do we do this today?

Q: What lessons can be learned?

Conclusion:

  • Ignoring the Bible or parts of it, no more changes the truth than ignoring a problem or disease to make it go away (Jeremiah 6:13-14). Something must be done! We have no right to play games with God’s word!
  • Telling the truth may make you unpopular, but God is the only one whose opinion really counts.(1 Peter 1:24-25).
  • Study the Bible
